LaDawn’s Cinnamon Rolls

These cinnamon rolls are fool proof, even an inexperienced bread maker can be successful with this recipe. Sweet and warm and perfect for Christmas Morning! This was one of my favorite videos I made. Instead of being worried about perfection, I allowed my 2 year old to help, and it is so fun to watch her!

1 c. milk
1 Tbsp. yeast
1 Tbsp. sugar,
1/4 c. warm water
3 eggs
1 cube butter or margarine
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
5 cups flour
1/2 cup butter
Cinnamon
Brown Sugar
Chopped Nuts

Heat milk in a saucepan until the edges begin to bubble.  Remove from heat and add butter, sugar, and salt.  When the butter has melted at least half way, then dissolve yeast in water, and add 1 Tbsp. sugar.  In a large bowl beat eggs.  When butter has melted in milk mixture, add milk mixture to eggs.  When yeast has risen add to milk and egg mixture.  Add flour and mix w ell.  Mix with a spoon and when it is too thick to mix, use hands to mix in all flour.  You can add a little more, but make it a soft dough, not sticky.  Knead just to get the dough smooth.

Roll out entire amount of dough at once.  Roll out about ½ inch thick.  Spread surface with melted butter.  About 1 cube will do, but may want a little more. Sprinkle cinnamon on top of butter.  Sprinkle with brown sugar quite liberally.  Add chopped nuts if desired.  Roll up jelly roll style.  Cut slices with string or a sharp knife.  How big you cut them depends on how big you want your rolls to be.  This recipe makes 12 huge rolls, 15 large or about 20 medium rolls.  Place on greased sheet cake pan and raise until double.  Bake at 350 degrees for about 12-15 minutes or until lightly brown.  Butter tops or rolls after baking.  Frost after cooled for at least 10 minutes.

Frosting:

 4 c. powdered sugar,
1/3-1/2 c. butter,
1 tsp. real vanilla,
Evaporated milk to make desired consistency.

Canned milk makes a better  frosting than regular milk.  Real vanilla makes anything better.  I make it thin enough to drizzle over rolls with a spoon.  It’s not a super thin drizzle, but just enough to fall off the spoon to drizzle on rolls.  They are very good.
